Trial Lawyer Nicholas Butto Joins Brithem LLP as Counsel

New York—August 24, 2026—Brithem LLP announced that Nicholas Butto has joined as counsel, bringing deep litigation and arbitration experience across commercial, securities, and government enforcement matters. He previously practiced as a litigation associate at Mintz and Paul Weiss.

Nick’s practice covers high-stakes commercial litigation from discovery through trial, with experience spanning contract, employment, real estate, insurance, health law, and securities disputes in state and federal courts and before arbitral tribunals. He also counsels clients through government and internal investigations before the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and other federal agencies.

“Nick brings significant courtroom and arbitration experience, along with a strong pro bono record that reflects his commitment to meaningful, hard-fought cases,” said Michael Bowe, co-founding partner of Brithem. “He’ll be a real asset to our team as we continue advocating for clients in the impact matters that define this firm.”

Among his notable matters, Nick represented nine plaintiffs in their lawsuit against the organizers of a white supremacist rally, taking a lead role in witness preparation and helping to secure a $26 million jury verdict. He also defended ExxonMobil in toxic tort litigations across multiple jurisdictions, including a trial against the New York Attorney General’s office, and has negotiated several multimillion-dollar settlements in matters spanning health law, employment law, and breach of contract disputes.

“Brithem is a firm built around fiercely supporting those who need an advocate,” said Nick. “Whether it’s advocating for a client seeking a just outcome or ensuring a survivor has someone firmly in their corner, that is the work that drives me. I’m excited to bring that same commitment to Brithem, where impact litigation is central to the firm’s mission and advancing justice is at the heart of its work.”

Before joining Brithem, Nick practiced in the litigation departments of Mintz and Paul Weiss. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was executive editor of the Georgetown Law Journal and also served as president of the Pro Bono Advisory Board. He received his B.A. and B.S., cum laude, from Boston College.
